This exhibition celebrates the decades-long friendship of painters Karen LaValley and Kirsten Bo-wen. Both influenced by the allure of nature’s beauty, these women artists pass down generations of influences in their craft. Drawing upon her father’s love of writing and reciting poetry, Bowen incorporates prose in the texture of her paintings. Her thickly painted scenes are often a means of collaboration, borrowing and elevating the work of independent writings. A child of dancers, LaValley paints energetic landscapes that emote joy and excitement influenced by her youth spent in her family’s dance school. She is often seen painting plein air in the open spaces near her Columbus home and brings her gardens to the gallery walls with a whimsy and expertise. \ \ Reception: Thursday, January 20, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.\
