Jack Bortle graduated from Western Michigan University with a degree in Finance. In 1969 he organized his own insurance agency, Financial Alternatives, which he owned and operated for 23 years. Financial Alternatives was involved with business and personal financial planning, employee benefit plans and group health insurance.
He earned his CLU and ChFC designations from the American College, Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania. In addition to being past president of the Southeast Ohio Life Underwriters Association, Mr. Bortle has also been a member of the Million Dollar Round Table. Fidelity Union Life Insurance Company, of Dallas, Texas, named him to their Hall of Fame both as an agency manager and as a personal producer.
Mr. Bortle serves as Chairman of the Athens County Port Authority. He is past president of the Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau and past secretary of the Athens County Community Improvement Corporation. Mr. Bortle also serves on the board of the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association.
Mr. Bortle have been instrumental in the formation of thirty-three business entities for the purpose construction and/or renovation and operation of the following hotel projects:

Sandra Bortle earned her B.S. Degree from Western Michigan University and a M.Ed. from Ohio University. She taught in the Business Department of Hocking College for ten years. After leaving education, Mrs. Bortle obtained her insurance license and worked as a recruiting coordinator and health/casualty insurance representative for Financial Alternatives. In 1988 she became the General Manager of the Days Inn, Athens, Ohio and in 1989 became the General Manager of the AmeriHost Inn, Athens, Ohio. Due to the growth of the company, Mrs. Bortle began working in corporate management in 1992.
Mrs. Bortle currently serves on the Board of Directors on the Athens Area Chamber of Commerce and as a trustee on the board of the Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges (OFIC). She formerly served on the boards of the Ohio Hotel & Lodging Association, O'Bleness Memorial Hospital, Bank One, Athens County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Athens Foundation, and worked on the fund raising committee for Athens County Habitat for Humanity.
Chad Bortle is currently the Vice President of Operations for SJB Management Inc., a hotel development and management company that owns and manages hotels in Ohio, Indiana, and West Virginia. Previous to his work with SJB Management Inc., Chad was an Assistant Vice President with CCS Fundraising, an international fundraising consulting firm; successfully directing capital campaigns that raised over $200 million dollars for a variety of non-profit organizations in Oklahoma, Florida, and California.
Chad received a graduate degree from Case Western Reserve University’s Mandel Center of Non Profit Management and is also a graduate of the University of Dayton with a bachelor’s degree in English and History. Chad formerly served as a board member with the Iron Disorders Institute since 2006. He currently serves on the board of the Licking County Convention and Visitor's Bureau and on the board for the Newark Ice Hockey Association as well serving on the Development Council for the United Way of Licking County. . He dedicates his spare time to youth sports serving as a Little League coach and Youth Hockey coach. He resides in Granville, Ohio, with his son and wife where he is involved locally with the United Way, the Licking County Convention and Visitor’s Board, and is a little league coach.
